A scenic wall depicts a scene. It can be stylized, such as a pencil sketch of a
scene, but there needs to be the general things you see in a scene, ie
perspective and horizon (even if the perspective means the horizon is at some
distance outside of the wallpaper), and a sense of the 2d/3d space of the
landscape/characters.
And I restricted it to middle/high schools to restrict the number of different
locations you can have. When you introduce a college setting you could make
almost any generic scenic wall and pretend it's somewhere on a college campus. I
want the setting to be definitively at a school.
Which?Waller Round 6 begins!
Round 6's theme is Schoolhouse Rock.
Your wallpaper must be a scenic wallpaper
that takes place at a middle or high
school (grades 7-12, about ages 12-18). Any series/characters (or even no
characters if you so choose) are acceptable. Characters do not need to be
students/teachers/faculty/etc, but it would probably be a little odd for them to
be hanging out in a school otherwise.
Common places in a school where you might set your scene include:
* Classrooms
* Hallways
* Locker rooms
* Cafeterias
* Gyms/pools
* Teacher's Lounge
* Rooftop
* Various exterior locations, ie sporting field/track, school entrance, school
yard, etc.
Space Academies and other non-traditional schools, as long as the are geared for
middle/highschoolers (ie the Stellvia academy) and are specifically an
institution of learning (in other words, not merely a place where
middle/highschoolers might hang around), are also acceptable.
Guessers:
Once again, with two walls in the competition Maplerose had it easier on the
guessing round, and managed to guess all the walls correctly on her first
try!

Do not upload your version as they are the same size, and so yours would be
removed as it is newer.
Before uploading any scan, do be sure to check the gallery to make sure it's not
already there. Only upload your version if yours is considerably larger (at
least 1.5x), has less text covering the image (ie clean poster scan vs
text-filled magazine scan), or would be considered higher in quality than the
version already in the gallery.
I'm thinking of doing a major PR push for the next round... try to get an
announcement in the next MT Maigetsu and see if we can advertise/get
announcements in some of the larger walling groups (vector-wallers, vectory,
simple-ism, etc.).
Since I've only received a handful of wallpapers so far for this round, I am
extending the walling deadline for Round
5: Leap Year, until April 12th. That gives you an extra week to make those
Keroro walls!
When we did Lights Out San Francisco a
few months ago, various organizations in the city turned off
"unnecessary" lighting. This included things like the decorative
lights on the Bay Bridge, and lighting in several of the city's more distinctive
skyscrapers that make them look pretty at night. Regular street lighting and
such were not affected. The idea isn't to turn the city totally dark, it's to
remind everyone that they can help conserve power by turning off even just one
light.
I helped Google turn the
lights off, does that mean I'm off the hook?
Actually, I'll probably go down to the waterfront between the Bay Bridge and the
Ferry Building and take in the sight.

If you are a student you may want to consider an academic version of Photoshop
which offers some discount. There is also Photoshop elements for less than $100
which offers at least some of the functionality at a fraction of the cost.
Of course, there are plenty of other art programs available as well, such as
Paint Shop Pro, the GIMP, etc and so forth.
Hey folks! Here are the compiled guessability charts for Round 4 of which?waller.
Note: The chart URLs include all wallers names regardless if anyone guessed them
for a given wall or not, so you'll sometimes see labels pointing in between
slices of the pie.
P.S. I feel impelled to note that the Google Charts API totally rocks my
socks.
Round 5 begins!
Round 5's theme is Leap Year*! That's
right, we're celebrating that odd once-every-four-years day of February 29th.
Sure, you don't get the day off or have any parades (although if your birthday
is the 29th, you finally get to celebrate on the day itself) -- but it's a rare
enough event to get at least a little more notice.
Because Leap Year tends to be symbolized by a frog, this round your wallpaper
must feature artwork from the series Keroro Gunsou (Sgt.
Frog) and contain at least one (1) of
the frogs. Any and all styles of wallpapers are accepted; the wall can
use official manga or anime artwork, professional doujinshi from the series or
your own drawings for the show. You can submit as many wallpapers as you like;
you have 1 month in which to do so (see the Events Calendar
for dates). Be sure to include the which?waller
round 5 signature in the bottom of your wall.
Good luck, wallers!
*Note: This would have made more sense if I had kept to the original schedule,
in which Round 5 was supposed to start March 1. Oh well.
Here are the results for Round 4!
Maplerose had it easy, and used that to her advantage to guess all of the walls
correctly -- on her first try, no less! Gaara-no-Shukaku and Piccolobear also
scored highly; in all, 4 out of 7 guessers got a 50% or better on their first
list.
Here's who made each wall:
Wall 1: Maplerose and Kitten
Wall 2: Maplerose and Mirinee
Wall 3: Maplerose and Gaara-no-shukaku
Wall 4: Abul and Piccolobear
Wall 5: Myrhhlynn and Piccolobear
Wall 6: Gaara-no-shukaku and Kitten
Wall 7: Maplerose and Chloe-chan
Wall 8: Myrhhlynn and Piccolobear
Wall 9: Chubbykitty and BBshadowneko
I'll try to compile the guessability factor of each wall (the charts that say
who people guessed made each wall) this weekend.
Thanks to all the wallers and guessers who participated
which?waller round 5 will also start this weekend. Look forward to it!
Quote by Kuro-kun15I like Tama-Neko's
idea. But couldn't you just post the link yourself after you make the new
one?
If you're not the last poster in the old thread, you would need a mod to add the
link in that posting for you.
If you both end and start a new then of course that's not a problem
Indy art would be art made by the users. Other terms for this include fanart and
doujinshi, but anime-styled original art is also accepted as indy art. Vectors
also fall under the indy art category.
Scans are official pieces released by the companies, and come from places like
magazines, promotional flyers, calendars, DVD/CD covers, manga, etc and so
forth.
Round 4 moves on to the guessing stage. We had 9 walls submitted by 9
collaborations. Let's see how well you can figure out the wallers! See all the
walls
Here is a list of the participants:
You can always try navigating to the series category home page and submitting
through the left-hand menu on the category page. I think this automatically
enters the series category in the submission page; from there you just put in
the rest of the info.
If a thread overflows and user starts a continuation thread, would it be okay
for that user to PM a mod or put a report on the original thread asking to get a
link in the last post to the new thread? That way people would know where to
continue the conversation/RP/etc without worrying about having 5 members try to
continue the topic in new threads.
MapleRose is starting the 'two truths and a lie' round just a wee bit early, methinks...

No, you need to include the whole frog (or at most, trim off a bit of an arm or a leg if they're off to one side.)
